NU Online News Service, July 23, 10:23 a.m. – HealthMarket Inc., Norwalk, Conn., a company that sets up defined-contribution health plans, says American Re HealthCare has agreed to provide reinsurance for its new American Travelers Assurance Company subsidiary.

American Re HealthCare is an affiliate of the Munich Re Group, Munich, the biggest reinsurer in the world.

Defined-contributions health plans usually combine catastrophic health insurance with employer-funded personal care accounts that workers can use to pay for routine medical expenses.

HealthMarket recently acquired American Travelers to have a vehicle for providing the catastrophic reinsurance.
