NU Online News Service, June 26, 2:20 p.m. – U.S. worksite insurance sales increased 13% in 2001, to $3.5 billion, according to Eastbridge Consulting Group Inc., Avon, Conn.

The worksite marketing consulting firm estimates that premium revenue for all worksite policies still in force was between $8.5 billion and $10.3 billion. The total was probably up at least 15% from the 2000 total, Eastbridge says.

Only three of the companies surveyed have more than a 5% share of the worksite market, and the bigger insurers tended to do better than the smaller insurers, Eastbridge says.

Eastbridge based the 2001 results on a survey of 56 worksite carriers that accounted for about two-thirds of U.S. worksite insurance sales.

The full survey report, available from Eastbridge, breaks down results by product line and distribution system.
