NU Online News Service, June 11, 11:53 a.m. – Wausau Benefits Inc., Wausau, Wis., has agreed to work with Patient Choice Healthcare Inc., Minneapolis, to offer “care system” provider networks to self-funded Massachusetts-area employers in 2003.

The networks will include primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals and other health care professionals and facilities.

Each network will use quality and cost to compete for the business of the participating employers’ employees.

Patient Choice is organizing networks in Massachusetts with help from the Associated Industries of Massachusetts, Boston, a large employer association, and the Massachusetts Healthcare Purchaser Group, Pembroke, Mass., a coalition of large public and private health care purchasers.

Members of the two groups provide health coverage for 2 million Massachusetts residents.
