NU Online News Service, May 21, 11:13 a.m. – AdvancePCS Inc., Irving, Texas, a large pharmacy benefit manager, says it has completed successful tests of the systems it will need to comply with tough new federal electronic claims standards.

The government will require many health care organizations, including pharmacies and prescription drug plans, to begin using a standard electronic claims format starting either this October or, in some cases, in October 2003.

AdvancePCS intends to accommodate the current claim format and the new, standard format for an “extended period of time,” the company says.
