NU Online News Service, April 16, 2:26 p.m. – Fortis Health, Milwaukee, says its John Alden Life Insurance Company unit has started selling small-group dental insurance to business owners in seven more states.

The states are Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Washington

Fortis Health, a unit of Fortis, Brussels, says John Alden is also marketing small-group coverage in three other new states, but the names of the other three states were not immediately available.

The dental program is now available in a total of 45 states.

Fortis Health introduced the John Alden dental program in September 2001, to complement its existing small-group major medical program.

The program, which offers a choice of preferred provider and pure indemnity plans, is available to any small employer with at least three covered employees. Employers can choose between a maximum benefit of $1,000 per year or $2,000 per year.
