Bowler Sworn In As Massachusetts Commissioner

NU Online News Service, April 4, 10:08 a.m. – Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift has sworn in Julianne M. Bowler as commissioner of insurance.

Bowler, who replaces Linda L. Ruthardt, has been the first deputy commissioner of the Division of Insurance since 1998. She oversaw the division’s review of the demutualization of John Hancock Financial Services Inc., Boston. She also helped introduce the division’s on-line agent license renewal system and its on-line use of policy form and rate filings for all lines of insurance.

From 1994 to 1996, Bowler worked in government relations for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Boston. Previously, she was on the staff of the Republican leader of the state House of Representatives.
