NU Online News Service, March 26, 9:45 a.m. – BenefitAmerica, Mountain View, Calif., is introducing a system that insurers can use to sell and administer voluntary benefits and other employee benefits through the Web.
BenefitAmerica, a unit of UnumProvident Corp., says insurers can let BenefitAmerica run the new Spectrum system on its computers, or add the new BenefitAmerica Spectrum system to their own Web sites.
Insurers also can choose between letting employees enroll themselves or setting up the system so enrollers can help with the process.
In related news, BenefitAmerica says it has appointed Tom Summerford director of insurer solutions. Summerford will be in charge of developing the Spectrum system.
