NU Online News Service, March 21, 1:15 p.m. – Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass., has named Toby Slodden to be head of the company’s disability insurance and long-term care insurance businesses.

Slodden, a senior vice president, will report directly to Robert O’Donnell, MassMutual’s chairman.

Slodden, who joined MassMutual in 1997, has been president of the company’s financial products division. He was also responsible for its capital markets and treasury operations.

Slodden will continue to run the financial products division, but Michael Rollings, a vice president, will now run the capital markets and treasury operations. Rollings will report to Howard Gunton, the chief financial officer, MassMutual says.

Slodden previously worked for the American Express Company, New York, and USF&G Corp., Baltimore.

Slodden has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in business from the University of Pennsylvania. He also served for five years in the U.S. Air Force.
