Horace Mann Reports 4th Quarter Net Income

NU Online News Service, Feb. 8, 3:51 p.m. – Horace Mann Educators Corp., Springfield, Ill., is reporting $4.8 million in net income for the fourth quarter of 2001 on $202 million in revenue, up from a net loss of $14 million on $193 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2000.

Horace Mann sells annuities, life insurance, property-casualty insurance and related products to teachers.

Operating income increased to $5.8 million, from $2.5 million, at the annuity unit, and to $5.5 million, from $2.3 million, at the life insurance unit, the company says.
