NU Online News Service, Jan. 29, 1:50 p.m. – Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company, Columbia, S.C., is adopting a new marketing brand name, Colonial Supplemental Insurance, to reflect the nature of the products it sells.

Colonial, a division of UnumProvident Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., will keep its old name for official purposes, but it is also replacing its 60-year-old Minuteman logo.

The new logo consists of a circle flanked by a blue, forward-facing C and a gray, backward-facing C.

Colonial is promoting its new name and logo with an advertising campaign that includes radio commercials, print ads and a Web site redesign.

Colonial will advertise the change with television commercials in some markets, the company says.
