NU Online News Service, Jan. 25, 9:37 a.m. – Subimo L.L.C., Chicago, has licensed its hospital selection system to PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., a large managed care company.
PacifiCare plan members can use the Subimo Hospital Advisor system to decide which hospital to use for more than 30 different types of operations, including cesarean sections, mastectomies and open-heart surgery, Subimo says.
Members can use the system to search for PacifiCare network hospitals that have teaching programs. Members can also look for network hospitals that handle large numbers of a specific type of operation and report low complication rates.
Search results include explanations of ways to interpret the data and suggestions about additional issues to consider, Subimo says.
