NU Online News Service, Jan. 22, 3:13 p.m. – MetLife Investors Group, Newport Beach, Calif., a unit of MetLife Inc., has hired Paul LaPiana to be executive vice president for life markets.

LaPiana previously was a divisional manager and wholesaler in the life division at Equitable Distributors Inc., New York. At Equitable, LaPiana developed the Southern California territory and managed sales in 14 western states.

MetLife Investors has also announced the introduction of the MetLife Investors Variable Life Class VL policy, a policy that can be used to provide ordinary coverage for one insured, or “survivorship” coverage for a couple or a group of executives.

Morningstar Associates L.L.C., Chicago, has picked the investment funds included with the variable life policy, and it will monitor the funds on an ongoing basis, MetLife Investors says.
