Johns Appointed Head Of Protective Life

NU Online News Service, Jan 21, 3:25 p.m. – Protective Life Corp., Birmingham, Ala., has appointed John Johns president and chief executive officer.

Johns replaces Drayton Nabers Jr.

Nabers, who retired as chief executive Dec. 27, 2001, will continue to serve as chairman of the Protective board.

Johns, 49, joined Protective in 1993. Before becoming president of the company, he was its chief financial officer.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and graduated from Harvard University with both a master’s degree in business and a law degree. Before joining Protective, he was general counsel at Sonat Inc., Birmingham.
