N.J. Blue, Capital Blue Hire New Pharmacy Managers

NU Online News Service, Jan. 7, 9:45 a.m. – Two Blue Cross companies have announced agreements with pharmaceutical benefit management firms.

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Newark, N.J., has hired AdvancePCS, Irving, Texas, to manage pharmacy benefit management services for 1.4 million of its 2.5 million major medical plan members starting July 1.

AdvancePCS says it now manages pharmacy benefits for a total of 75 million prescription plan members.

Capital Blue Cross, Harrisburg, Pa., has hired Express Scripts Inc., St. Louis, to manage pharmacy benefits for many of its 1.5 million major members.

Express Scripts now manages pharmacy benefits for 47.5 million prescription plan members.
