NU Online News Service, Dec. 13, 2:03 p.m. – CaliforniaChoice, Orange, Calif., is starting the Salud con Health Net HMO, a low-cost health maintenance organization for Los Angeles residents.

CaliforniaChoice will use a network of just 200 doctors in Los Angeles County and 140 doctors in Mexico, along with 11 California hospitals owned by Tenet Healthcare Corp., Santa Barbara, Calif., and eight hospitals in Mexico.

Because the provider network is so small, rates start at as little as $82 per month for a 19-year-old single person, CaliforniaChoice says.

The company selling the HMO solely through brokers.
