NU Online News Service, Dec. 12, 10:58 a.m. — PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., has promoted Rich Roge, 44, to senior vice president of commercial sales, marketing and product development.

Roge is now responsible for sales and marketing for PacifiCare’s commercial business segment in eight western states and Guam. Product development, including design, financing and launch, is also under his direction.

Roge joined the PacifiCare California health plan in June 1998 as vice president of sales and marketing for commercial brokered markets. In January 2000, he became responsible for company-wide small employer group and individual products and sales.

In February, Roge became vice president of product development for the new PacifiCare preferred provider organization program. He helped launch new indemnity insurance plans in California, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.

In July, Roge returned to PacifiCare of California as vice president of the commercial brokered markets. He has held the dual role since then.

Before joining PacifiCare, Roge served as vice president of sales and marketing at Health Net Inc., in Woodland Hills, Calif. Previously he served in management positions with Blue Cross of California and Prudential.

Roge has a bachelor’s degree in finance from California State University, Fullerton.
