First Union Launches Online Insurance Site

NU Online News Service, Nov. 27, 9:50 a.m. – First Union National Bank, Charlotte, N.C., has launched an on-line insurance platform based on technology by Pivot to present customers with one-stop shopping for annuities and insurance. The Web site, www.firstunion.com/insurance, has simplified navigation routines, enhanced quoting options, and educational and planning tools to help customers choose from an expanded set of products, First Union says. The revamped on-line platform is supported by Pivot, a Columbus, Ohio firm that provides insurance distribution technology.

The First Union site offers financial education tools, including online glossaries, and policy owner services.

Formed with the merger of First Union and Wachovia Bank on September 1, 2001, the Wachovia Corporation stills operates under the First Union and Wachovia names, offering products from a variety of insurance companies
