NU Online News Service, Nov. 27, 2:43 p.m. – Aetna Inc., Hartford, is adding health information from Healthwise Inc., Boise, Idaho, to its consumer Web site.
The Healthwise database gives detailed, authoritative information on 1,900 health topics, 600 medical tests and procedures, and 3,000 medications, Aetna says.
The database includes discussions of topics such as whether a patient should have an imaging test to diagnose a headache, or whether a patient should have surgery to treat chronic gallstones.
Healthwise is a nonprofit health information center founded in 1975. URAC, Washington, a major health care accreditation organization, used information from Healthwise to develop its own standards for health Web site accreditation, Aetna says.
