NU Online News Service, Nov. 21, 2:25 p.m. – The Insurance Marketplace Standards Association, Washington, has appointed Brian Atchinson to serve as executive director. Atchinson succeeds Paul Mason, who served as executive director from 1999 to 2001.
Atchinson was vice president and managing counsel in the law department at UnumProvident Corp., Portland, Maine.
Before joining UnumProvident, he was the Maine insurance superintendent from 1992 to 1997. In 1996, he was president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo.
