NU Online News Service, Nov. 8, 4:18 p.m. – Aegon N.V., The Hague, Netherlands, says Donald Shepard, the head of its U.S. operations, will take over as chairman of the parent company in April 2002.

Kees Storm, the current chairman, is stepping down because he will turn 60 in July 2002, Aegon says. In the Netherlands, 60 is the normal retirement age.

Storm will continue to serve on the Aegon board after he retires as chairman.

Shepard began working for Aegon units in the United States in 1970. He took over as head of all U.S. operations in 1989.
