NU Online News Service, Oct. 19, 3:20 p.m. – The American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, has called on the government to set up a commission to study whether the life insurance industry should be granted federal aid in the event of a further terrorist attack, reports The Washington Post.

In a draft of the proposal it circulated on Capitol Hill this week the ACLU proposes the commission should be composed of industry representatives and government agency officials, according to the Post. The business lobby also calls for the proposal to be attached to the plans to assist the property and casualty insurance industry, according to the paper.
