NU Online News Service, Oct. 3, 1:48 p.m. – The U.S. General Accounting Office has posted “Insurance Regulation: The NAIC Accreditation Program Can Be Improved” on its Web site, at //www.gao.gov/new.items/d01948.pdf

The 50-page report, which was sent to the House Energy and Commerce Committee in August, deals with efforts by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., to promote consistency in state solvency regulation. An appendix gives the NAIC’s response to the GAO analysis.
