NU Online News Service, Oct. 1, 12:55 p.m. – The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education, Washington, has set up a hotline to help consumers affected by the Sept. 11 terrorism attacks, at 1-800-346-8200.

Volunteers will try to help callers determine whether their loved ones had life insurance, and with what companies.

The volunteers will also help callers with the claims process.

Consumers can also get help by visiting the foundation Web site, at http://www.life-line.org/september11help

“We’re committed to helping the relatives and families of victims,” the foundation says in an ad running this week. “We lost many colleagues in the insurance industry, and we feel the effect of these disastrous events intensely and personally.”
