AIG Hearing To Acquire Subsidiaries Moved Up

NU Online News Service, Aug. 16, 10:54 a.m. – Texas Insurance Commissioner Jose Montemayor has moved an acquisition hearing date from Sept. 5 to Aug. 28.

During the hearing, Montemayor will consider the public testimony of interested parties and the applicant, American International Group Inc., New York, in AIG’s effort to acquire control of American General Annuity Insurance Co., Amarillo, Texas, American General Life Insurance Co., Houston, The National Life and Accident Insurance Co., Nashville, Tenn., and The Variable Annuity Life Insurance Co., Houston, subsidiaries of American General Corp., Houston.

Both companies requested the change in date so that the matter would be resolved by the end of the month, according to an official at the Texas Department of Public Information.
