Humana Sells Houston Medicaid Plan To AMERIGROUP

NU Online News Service, Aug. 1, 10:40 a.m. – AMERIGROUP Texas Inc., Arlington, Texas, a subsidiary of AMERIGROUP Corp., Virginia Beach, Va., has acquired the Houston-area STAR Medicaid health maintenance organization plan from Humana Health Plan of Texas Inc., a subsidiary of Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky..

The official transition of business from Humana to AMERIGROUP occurs today, AMERIGROUP says.

This transaction results in the transfer of more than 21,000 Humana STAR health plan members in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery and Waller counties in Texas to AMERIGROUP Texas, from Humana, AMERIGROUP says.
