Previously, Lake worked as a trade policy official in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and as an international trade lawyer in the Washington office of Dewey Ballantine L.L.P.
Lake grew up in Tokyo. He received a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies and political science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1985, and a law degree from George Washington University in 1990.
Lake serves on the board of the International Insurance Council and the Japanese government’s Financial Systems Council Working Group on Insurance. He also chairs the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan Subcommittee on Insurance and is a member of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives.
