NU Online News Service, June 22, 3:45 p.m. – DGL Consultants, Richford, Vt., says mutual fund companies are making it easier for existing customers to invest assets through the Web, but are still shying away from letting new customers open accounts through the Web.

Fund companies have also been slow to try to sell products other than mutual funds through their Web sites, DGL concludes in a report on fund Web sites.

DGL researchers also found when they visited sites from January to May that bigger fund companies are likely to include separate sections on their sites for brokers and other types of distributors.
