Spanish Insurers' Premium Volume Up 28% In 2000

NU Online News Service, June 15, 4:35 p.m. — Spain’s insurance sector increased insurance premium revenue in 2000, to 8.8 trillion pesetas ($50 billion, based on a Dec. 31, 2000, exchange rate of 1 peseta=$175), reports El Mundo, a Spanish daily newspaper.

The country’s life insurers are reporting 3.9 trillion, or $22 billion, in premium revenue for 2000, up 42%, the paper says.
