Navigy And Humana Name CEO For Joint Venture Portal

NU Online News Service, June 13, 11:00 a.m. – Availity L.L.C., a joint venture of Navigy, Inc., a subsidiary of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Jacksonville, Fla. and HUM-e-FL Inc., a subsidiary of Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., has named Julie D. Klapstein chief executive officer.

In her new role, Klapstein will be responsible for run a Web portal, www.availity.com, which allows the parent companies’ physicians and health care providers in Florida to transact business online. The portal site is expected to be operational in the fall of 2001. Before joining Availity, she was president and chief executive at Phycom Corp., Kirkland, Wash.

An estimated 15,000 physicians in Florida will have access to Availity through the Internet, Navigy and HUM-e-FL say in a statement.
