The Windsor, Connecticut-based company owns the old Hartford Life Insurance Company and Hartford Life and Annuity Insurance Company operations. An investor group led by Cornell Capital LLC acquired Talcott in 2018.

Talcott says Manley will be ”responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the company’s growth strategy.”

Manley previously was a managing director in J.P. Morgan’s financial institutions group.

Manley has worked on MetLife’s spinoff of Brighthouse Financial, Athene’s acquisition of Aviva U.S., the sale of Cigna’s variable annuity business to Berkshire Hathaway, and the Fidelity & Guaranty initial public offering, according to a biography posted on

In September, Manley was a faculty member for a New York City Bar Association program on mergers and acquisitions for insurance businesses. He participated in a panel discussion on transaction nuts and bolts.

Manley has a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s degree in business from Columbia.

Talcott has also named George Eknaian to be head of pricing, and it has promoted Christopher Abreu to chief risk officer.

Eknaian, Talcott’s new head of pricing, previously was Talcott’s chief risk officer. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst professional designations.

Abreu, Talcott’s new chief risk officer, has been Talcott’s head of risk measurement and reporting. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

In other personnel matters news, LL Global Inc., the parent organization for LIMRA and LOMA, has hired Milton Edmonds Jr. to lead an expanded compliance and regulatory program.

Edmonds previously was the chief compliance officer for the workplace solutions group, the retirement unit and the group insurance unit at Prudential Financial Inc. He also has worked for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford and a master’s degree in education from the University of Hartford.
