The United States’ largest creditor is doing what any creditor would do when it sees its debtor begin to act in an erratic fashion that may hinder its ability to repay: It is telling them to get their house in order. In today’s global economy, a U.S. default is bad for everyone. It would be even more devastating given the fragile state of the global economy.
