Friday morning’s general session at NAILBA 31 in Orlando got started with an update from the NAILBA Charitable Foundation, which revealed that it was able to award nearly $210,000 to 13 charities and the LIFE Foundation this year.

The NAILBA Charitable Foundation, on its 10th anniversary, received a record number of grant applications — nearly double the amount it received last year. The 13 charities that were chosen had three critical elements in common:

  • Programs and services that focus on children
  • Active involvement by NAILBA member agencies, companies or vendors
  • The ability for the grant to make a meaningful difference in the program’s overall budget.

John Rippinger, CLU, ChFC, RHU, LUTCF, REBC, incoming president of the NAILBA Charitable Foundation, outgoing president Myra Palmer and NAILBA treasurer Barb Crowley encouraged NAILBA attendees to contribute to the NAILBA Charitable Foundation, which can be done at

It was also announced that the 2012 William J. Felton III grant award of $25,000 goes to HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support) of Honolulu, Hawaii, which was sponsored by Lori Rodriguez of CPS Insurance Services-Hawaii.
