IRS Announces 2009 HSA Amounts

The Internal Revenue Service has announced the 2009 “indexed amounts” for health savings accounts.

The 2009 maximum contribution limit for individual HSAs has increased to $3,000, from $2,900 in 2008.

The 2009 maximum contribution limit for family HSAs has increased to $5,950, from $5,800.

The 2009 high-deductible health plan maximum annual out-of-pocket limit for individuals is $5,800, up from $5,600, and the maximum family limit is $11,600, up from $11,000.

The 2009 minimum HDHP deductible amounts for individuals and families have increased to $1,150 for individuals and $2,300 for families, up from $1,100 and $2,200 in 2008.
