A U.S. trade group is complaining about an Asian country’s efforts to rein in its rising health care costs.
The Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare wants to discourage Koreans from using unnecessary health care by prohibiting private insurers from covering national health care system co-payments.
The American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, says the ministry should have consulted more with domestic and foreign stakeholders before deciding to ban use of supplemental medical insurance.
