The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has promoted Peter Bresnan to deputy director of the division of enforcement.[@@[

Bresnan has been serving as an associate director in the SEC’s enforcement division since April 2004. From November 2003 to April 2004, he was acting district administrator of the Boston district office. While in Boston, Bresnan spearheaded the SEC market-timing cases against Putnam Investments, Boston, and Massachusetts Financial Services Company, Boston, the SEC says.

Putnam is a unit of McLennan and Companies Inc., New York, and MFS is a unit of Sun Life Financial Inc., Toronto.

Bresnan has a bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College and a law degree from Fordham University.
