Labor Sets Union Plan Disclosure Rules

The U.S. Department of Labor has proposed rules that will give participants in multiemployer pension plans the right to get copies of plan funding documents.

Union representatives and contributing employers also will have a right to see the actuarial documents and other documents, Labor Department officials say.

Plans will have 30 days to provide the documents once the documents are requested.

The proposed rules would implement provisions of the Pension Protection Act of 2006.
