CIGNA Corp. is offering a new service to its wellness programs that links participants with a personal health advocate.
CIGNA, Philadelphia, is offering one-stop help to participants in the health promotion and disease prevention plans of its CIGNA Health division, Bloomfield, Conn.
The program integrates behavioral health care, lifestyle management programs, case management, disease management, health coaching and employee assistance programs with a single contact available by phone, over the Web and other avenues. The advocate will connect callers with the type of help they need, from advice on nutrition or help with managing stress to resources for coping with all aspects of a major illness, the company says.
It is offering the program to a limited number of employers this year before making it more broadly available in the future, including to its own employees.
The program aims to secure long-term health improvements to its members and lower medical costs, CIGNA says.
