A Midwestern insurer is expanding its line of protection products.

Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company, Omaha, Neb., is introducing the Term Life Complete and Term Life Express term life insurance policies.

The Term Life Complete policy offers a traditional underwriting process and face amounts starting at $100,000.

The Term Life Express policy may cost more in some cases, but the minimum face amount is only $50,000, and consumers can qualify for the coverage by going through a simplified underwriting process, Mutual of Omaha says.

Both policies include an accelerated death benefit feature that can pay terminally ill insureds 92% of the death benefit in the form of a lump sum.

The policies also come with a built-in unemployment provision that can keep coverage in effect for up to 6 months while a policyholder is unemployed and unable to make premium payments.

One of the optional riders available with the policy provides disability income coverage, Mutual of Omaha says.
