Nov. 27, 2002 — John Johnson, an analyst with Dreyfus Founders Funds, has been appointed co-manager of Dreyfus Founders Funds:Balanced Fund/A (FRIDX).

Johnson this month began assisting lead manager John Jares in picking stocks for the $149-million fund, which invests in equity and debt securities. Johnson said he looks for growing companies whose stocks are attractively priced.

Prior to joining Dreyfus Founders in June, Johnson was an equity analyst with American Century Investments. Before that, he was an analyst with the Abernathy Group and Berger LLC.

Dreyfus Founders Balanced fund, launched in December 1999, is too new to carry an overall Star rank by Standard & Poor’s.
