Rasmussen began working for Nationwide since 1998, after the company acquired his previous employer, Allied Insurance Company of America.

Kirt Walker, who has been the president and chief operating officer of Nationwide’s financial services operation since 2009, is now the Columbus, Ohio-based company’s CEO-elect.

Before Walker began running Nationwide’s financial services unit, he spent 23 years at Nationwide’s property and casualty business.

Nationwide says its board chose Walker to succeed Rasmussen after organizing an extensive search process.

Walker has a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree from the American College.

He now serves on the board of the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, the American Council of Life Insurers and the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies. He also serves on the American Red Cross board.
