The Trump administration announced that certain Medicare Part B beneficiaries would soon receive a $90 rebate check. To receive the check, the beneficiary must live in the U.S., not receive Medicaid and not be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan. Taxpayers who are required to pay the IRMAA (based on income) do not qualify (only taxpayers who pay the standard premium amount will receive the rebate). Rebates will be issued by direct deposit or paper check, depending on how the beneficiary receives their Social Security and/or pays their Medicare Part B premiums. Eligible Medicare beneficiaries do not have to take any action or fill out any forms to receive the $90 rebates. They should remain vigilant and aware of potential scams--Medicare and the Social Security Administration will never contact a beneficiary to request personal or bank information.
