IRS Reminds Taxpayers About Free File Options for the 2024 Tax Filing Season

The IRS has issued a reminder for taxpayers about their options for filing 2024 tax returns.  Direct File is the IRS' latest filing option that taxpayers can access for free via their mobile phone, computer or tablet.  Direct File uses questions as prompts to help taxpayers prepare their tax returns.  Direct File can also help with any required state tax filings.  Direct File is only available in 25 states, and allows taxpayers to import information from their IRS account directly.  IRS Free File is also available via IRS.gov to taxpayers with adjusted gross income of $84,000 or less for 2024.  Free File also offers fillable forms for taxpayers to use to prepare their returns regardless of their income levels.  Free File is currently in its 23rd year and is developed in partnership with eight tax preparation companies.  For more information on the 2024 tax filing obligations, visit Tax Facts Online.
