IRS Releases Guidance on Temporary 100% Business Meal Deduction, Apr. 15, 2021

For tax years beginning January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2022, businesses can deduct 100% of their meal expenses paid to restaurants. The deduction is available if the business owner or an employee is present when the food and beverages are provided. As is typically the case, the deduction is subject to the caveat that the meal expense not be lavish or extravagant. For more information on the business meal deduction, see Q 8749.
