Partnerships, corporations and LLCs that elect to be taxed as either partnerships or corporations are eligible to become qualified opportunity funds and accept investments for deferral under the opportunity zone rules.
To become a qualified opportunity fund, the entity must file Form 8996, qualified opportunity fund, with the entity’s federal income tax return.
