The North American Securities Administrators Association on Monday released new study guides for candidates interested in taking the Series 63, Series 65 and Series 66 qualification exams.

The materials, which offer a more comprehensive description of the exams for candidates and educators, are designed to aid test-takers in better understanding the scope and testing standards for each exam, NASAA said.

Elizabeth Bowling, the assistant commissioner for the Securities Division of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, and chair of NASAA’s Exams Advisory Committee, said in a statement that NASAA believes the guides “provide a great starting point for individuals pursuing a career in the financial industry.”

The guides, NASAA added, are designed to be an overview of each exam “and should not be considered a substitute for thorough study and preparation.”

In late August, NASAA launched an Exam Validity Extension Program to allow eligible individuals to leave the industry for up to five years and maintain their Series 63 license. It said then that it was planning a similar extension for Series 65.

The extension program allows industry professionals “to maintain their state qualification exams for up to five years if they maintain compliance with their continuing education requirements and industry knowledge,” NASAA President Andrew Hartnett said then in a statement.
