The U.S. Department of Labor is about to release regulations implementing the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.[@@]

USERRA is a federal law that protects the civilian jobs, civilian retirement benefits and civilian health benefits of members of the Guard and Reserve who end up serving on active duty.

The rules implementing USERRA will be written in plain English, in a question-and-answer format, according to Labor Department officials.

Department officials plan to unveil the regulations Friday at a press conference in Washington.
