CFP Board to Offer Remote Exam Option
Those who live 50 miles or more from a test center or have health concerns can apply to take the exam remotely.
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards announced today that it will provide remote proctoring for the September 22-29, 2020, CFP exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Advisors who have to travel 50 miles or more to a test center or have health concerns will be eligible to take the test from home or a location of their choice.
According to the CFP Board, Prometric, the test delivery vendor, will administer the exam through the ProProctor remote assessment platform versus at a Prometric test center, which still is an option. The proctor will monitor the candidate through audio and video during the remote exam.
The remote option is only available to those who are eligible based on location or health. The exam will be the same as is in the test centers.
There is a three-step process for candidates to apply to do the remote exam:
- Complete the registration through their CFP Board account
- Submit the remote testing application and provide supporting documentation to prove that you meet the requirements
- Receive approval confirmation within five days
Those who already have submitted testing applications but want to take the remote test instead should fill out and submit a remote testing application.
“The health and safety of our stakeholders has been paramount as the CFP Board has considered how best to continue our examination program during this uncertain time,” according to CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller. “We will work closely with Prometric to ensure the same high level of integrity and security for the CFP exam.”
