Life insurers can use the system to evaluate electronic medical records and medical claims data very quickly and feed health risk scores straight into underwriting systems, RGA says.

Insurers can use the tool for activities such as evaluating applicants and monitoring the holders of policies that have already been issued, RGA says.

The Chesterfield, Missouri-based reinsurer is making the tool available in the form of an application programming interface. It says USAA Life has already been using the tool.

RGA is best known as providing arrangements that help issuers of life insurance, annuties and other products manage their risk.
