Penn Mutual Names a Chief Financial Officer: Personnel Moves

Unum has named an executive vice president of group benefits.

The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company is promoting Dave Raszeja to senior vice president, chief financial officer, from  senior vice president, financial management and chief risk officer.

The Horsham, Pennsylvania-based company says Raszeja will move into the role previously held by Sue Deakins, who announced her retirement in 2019.

Raszeja began working for Penn Mutual in July 2001 as an actuarial analyst.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Unum Group has promoted Christopher Pyne to executive vice president, group benefits, from senior vice president, growth operations and distribution.

Pyne will continue to run Unum’s U.S. distribution organization, the Chattanooga, Tennessee-based organization says.

Pyne has a bachelor’s degree in government and legal studies from Bowdoin College.

Paychex Inc. has hired Don Cahalan to be the company’s vice president of insurance services. He will be in charge of the company’s insurance agency and its professional employer organization.

He previously worked for Advice2Pay, an employee benefits support services organization.
