Medicare Advantage Sales Were Great for Us: EHealth

Ordinary individual major medical sales were also up.

The Medicare Advantage plan market looked great for eHealth Inc. in the fourth quarter of 2019, and the ordinary individual and family major medical insurance market looked stable.

The Santa Clara, California-based web broker gave a little general information about those markets last week, in a preview of fourth-quarter results.

The company has been de-emphasizing sales of ordinary individual major medical insurance and shifting resources toward the Medicare plan market.

The number of approved Medicare plan enrollees was 88% higher in the fourth quarter of 2019 than in the fourth quarter of 2018, and the number of approved Medicare Advantage plan enrollees was 100% higher, eHealth said.

The number of approved individual and family major medical enrollees increased 1%, year-over year, even though the company shifted marketing resources toward the Medicare plan market.
